Infrastructure
Planning is a process for improving the performance of applications over
a WAN.
IPP gives the network engineer a view into how the application acts on
the network. Generally, this means, "what are the bandwidth
requirements".
IPP gives the application designers a view into how the application
performs on the network. This usually means "what is the response
time" of the application.
IPP is a process that can reveal the characteristics of applications when
they reside on the network. The key here is process.
Application
Expert
Application Expert v2.6
and Application Expert v8.0 are the products of Compuware Corporation.
The Infrastructure Planning Process requires the use of Application
Expert tool. As mission-critical business applications and the network
infrastructures transporting them evolve, so too must analysis tools to
help eliminate networked application slowness or unresponsiveness.
Application Expert helps identify and resolve application performance
issues quickly before an application goes live. It demonstrates how
changes in network bandwidth, latency, load, and TCP window size affect
each end user's response time.
With Application Expert, IT
professionals Can:
- Help ensure production readiness
- Verify bandwidth requirements
- Discover application bottlenecks
- Tune applications for wide area networks
- Understand and communicate test results
- Support a wide variety of applications and data
sources
- Performance management for .NET applications
Response Time:
The Response Time Analysis summarizes where time is
being spent during the transaction. This allows the user to focus on
those areas that
Time Plot:
The Time Plot allows the user to see how
efficiently and effectively the transaction is using bandwidth.
Thread Analysis:
Thread Analysis allows the user to visualize the
behavior of the components of the transaction. This quickly identifies
where performance improvements can be made.
Prediction:
The Response Time Prediction allows the user to
quickly see how the transaction will behave once deployed across a distributed
network. This allows them to determine realistic and attainable SLAs.
Sweep:
The response Time Sweep allows the user to understand
how the network will affect response time, so they don’t waste money on
unnecessary bandwidth.
WAN Provisioning Module (WPM):
With the WPM, you can
immediately determine if our new application will run on an existing WAN
link, or if you need more, and how much.
Payload View:
Application Expert can provide visualizations of XML files being used. Application vantage
provides visualization of your web pages.
Define User Profiles:
With the WPM, you need only know who will be using
your application, and how they will be using it.
